Eight parts, two systems

The sun shade accessories in this category belong to exactly two systems. Six parts are accessories for the retractable pergola canopy: the fabric panels hang from two tensioned ropes and slide open and closed along them. Two parts carry an outdoor curtain, either on a tensioned wire rope or in an aluminium rail. The table shows what each part is for and which dimensions matter.

Accessories for the retractable pergola canopy

When you order a retractable pergola canopy made to measure from us, polyester rope, glides, stoppers and operating rod are included in the right quantity. You need the parts separately when a panel is added, when a part has to be replaced or when you build a patio shade for a pergola or patio roof yourself.

Polyester rope

The polyester rope does not stretch. The panels therefore stay taut for years without you having to retension them. Because the material is transparent, the shade looks as if it were floating. Two ropes run per panel, one on each long side.

Glides

You hang the glides on the rope and clip the aluminium tubes into them. To take a panel down, you release the tubes from the glides and the ropes stay in place. The pergola canopy therefore needs no classic track hooks. The glides fit tubes with a 19 mm diameter only.

Stopper

The stopper looks like a glide but carries a small screw with a nut. This holds it firmly on the rope and keeps the panel in place - barely visible, with no carabiner or cable tie.

Aluminium tube cut to size

The 19 mm aluminium tube cut to size is light and robust at the same time. It sits inside the shading panel and gives it the shape that the glides and stoppers grip.

Side rope tensioners

The set of four stainless steel side rope tensioners tensions two ropes, which means one panel. You mount the tensioners on the front of the fascia board, or on the side of the rafter if there is no fascia board. They suit polyester, nylon and steel ropes.

Operating rod

With the beech wood operating rod you catch the eyelets of the panels from below and pull them open or closed. A length of 80 cm and a diameter of 20 mm sit comfortably in the hand.

Outdoor curtain

Wire rope or rail for the outdoor curtain

An outdoor curtain hangs either from a tensioned wire rope or in a track rail. Both systems are made up to your length and also carry the balcony curtain made to measure. Which one suits you depends on the hem of the curtain and on the support it is to hang from.

Wire rope system

The wire rope system comes as a ready-made set with stainless steel wire rope, turnbuckle, two wire rope clips and an eye bolt. It can be mounted on wood, metal or concrete. Over 2 m in length, intermediate eye bolts are added so that the rope does not sag - the number you need is included.

Rail system

The rail system is made of aluminium, with all screws, carabiners and locking clips in stainless steel. You mount it on the wall with an angle adapter or on the ceiling with a ceiling bracket. 90-degree curves can be ordered with it, and we bend other angles on request.

Quiet rollers

The aluminium wheels are coated in soft rubber, so the curtain glides almost silently. The rollers are available with a rotating clamp for a reinforced hem or with a rotating eyelet for curtains with eyelets or heading tape.

Spacing during installation

With the rail, the brackets sit no more than 80 cm apart, and from a length of 130 cm the rail comes in sections with connectors. With the wire rope, there are no more than 200 cm between two eye bolts. All steps are in the outdoor curtain installation guide.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently Asked Questions

We include polyester rope, glides, stoppers and operating rod in the quantity required when you order a retractable pergola canopy made to measure from us. You only need the individual parts in this category for replacements, for an additional panel or for a shade you build yourself.

No. Glides and stoppers are made for tubes with a 19 mm diameter. For a shade of your own, take the 19 mm aluminium tube cut to size from this category, then the tubes sit firmly in the clips.

A shading panel runs on two ropes. The set of four stainless steel side rope tensioners is exactly enough for these two ropes. Each further panel needs another set.

The polyester rope with a diameter of 2.2 mm has a tensile load of 1,800 newtons, which is just under 184 kg. It does not stretch, is transparent and flame retardant.

The wire rope is the slim solution for straight runs on wood, metal or concrete. The rail runs more quietly, can be mounted on the wall or ceiling and can also be taken around corners, with 90-degree curves or bent to order. With the rail, the hem decides the roller: clamp for the reinforced hem, eyelet for eyelets or heading tape.

No more than 200 cm between two eye bolts. For longer runs, you add intermediate eye bolts so that the rope does not sag under the curtain. We supply the right number depending on the total length.
