Tips for exact measuring

Four habits that decide whether the finished piece fits. None of them costs extra time.

Tape measure, not a folding rule

A flexible tape measures more accurately than a rigid rule - especially on rounded or curved shapes.

Measure at several points

Take the width at the top and the bottom, the depth at the front and the back. Where they differ, the smaller figure applies.

Sketch special shapes

Document special shapes with a sketch - including diagonals and radii. A photo with figures written on it works too.

Give the finished size, not the cut size

Send us the area the cushion should cover. Allowances for seam, stitching and filling are added by us in production.

A flexible tape measure. A folding rule is fine on straight edges but fails on curves and slopes, and that is where most of the errors happen.

Make a sketch and note the diagonals and radii alongside width and depth. With that we can make the piece to fit even when no side is parallel to another.

Measure at several points and give us all the figures. In case of doubt we work with the smaller one so the product fits for certain rather than being marginally too large.

Width, then depth, then height, in that order. A swapped figure gives a cushion that adds up correctly and still does not fit. For awnings and sun sails length comes before width, because the panels follow that.

No. Everything here is made to measure, so give us the finished size - that is the area the product should cover in the end. Allowances for seam, stitching and filling are added in production. Anyone who adds their own gets a piece that is too big.
