Mattresses for caravans
and motorhomes

Start with the shape: measure the bed box and see whether it is rectangular or has angles, rounded corners and cutouts. Then choose the core, which decides how comfortable the bed is: soft, firm, firm with a soft surface, or reversible. Finally choose the cover: corduroy or velvet for indoors, Agora for vehicles that are often left open.

A bedroom mattress has standard sizes and is usually thicker. A caravan mattress follows the shape of the bed box, with angles, rounded corners or cutouts, and is often thinner, because space and weight in a vehicle are tight. Unlike an inflatable camping mattress, it has a solid foam core and a cover that you can pull off and wash.

For a camper mattress you need a core that supports well even at low thickness. Ours have a foam core with a 0.5 cm thermal fleece layer around it. The firm core has a density of RG 40/50. For the cover, choose corduroy or velvet for indoors, or Agora fabric made of solution dyed acrylic, which is water and dirt repellent.

Vehicles almost always have foam mattresses, because an innerspring needs height and weight and cannot be cut into angles and cutouts. We make foam cores only. More important than the name of the foam are density and firmness: our firm core has RG 40/50, comparable to firmness grade H3.

That depends on the space. The mattress should not stand far above the rim of the bed box, and in an over-cab bed you need headroom to sit up. The thinner the mattress, the more the firm core is worth it, so that you do not feel the base. You choose the thickness in the configurator.

Foam with a density of RG 40/50 weighs about 40 kg per cubic metre. A mattress of 140 x 190 cm and 10 cm thick therefore contains about 10 kg of foam, plus the fleece and cover. Smaller sleeping surfaces and thinner cores weigh correspondingly less.

By cutting it to the bed box and not the other way round. You choose the shape that matches your sleeping surface and enter the measurements you took in the configurator. For shapes that do not fit any template, send a sketch or template to customer service.

The surest way is on the vehicle itself: measure the sleeping surface or the old mattress from edge to edge. Details from brochures or forums often refer to a different layout. Measure at several points and, if in doubt, give the smaller measurement.

In a French bed in a caravan, one corner at the foot end is usually rounded or angled, so that you can get past the bed. The motorhome mattress with one rounded corner or the one with an angled corner section fits here. Measure the radius or the angle and enter the values in the configurator.

When a hollow stays that does not spring back during the day, when the mattress smells musty or shows damp patches, or when it no longer fits the bed box after a conversion. A dirty cover alone is no reason, because you can pull it off and wash it.

Because they are usually thinner than bedroom mattresses. A soft foam gives way so far at low thickness that you feel the base. A firm core supports well even at little height. If you prefer it softer, choose the firm core with a soft surface or the reversible mattress.
