What sets this cover apart
A lounge sofa is high at the back and low at the front: the backrest rises well above the wide, deep seat. An off-the-shelf box cover stretches over the backrest and lies loosely on the seat - and that is exactly where a hollow forms and rain collects. This page covers straight sofas. A cut with two heights
We ask for the height of the backrest and the height of the seat separately. That way the cut follows the step between back and seat instead of leaving spare fabric over the seat.
No pool of water on the seat
Loose fabric sags over a wide seat, rain collects in the hollow, the weight stretches the fabric and pulls in more material - until seams tear. A taut cover lets the water run off.
Storm-proof fastening
Tension straps with click buckles on the sofa legs plus a drawcord in the hem keep the cover in place in wind - instead of elastic that goes slack or single eyelets that tear out.
Cushions stay dry
At least two concealed vents and a ground clearance of at least 5 cm let moisture escape. So no condensation forms under the cover to settle in cushions and frame.
Fabric & properties
A good outdoor sofa cover waterproof enough for British weather has to keep rain out and still be ventilated, so that cushions and frame do not go mouldy. We do not solve this with a breathable fabric but through the construction: we sew from Cover-PVC, a vapour-tight, PVC-coated polyester fabric with a 4,000 mm water column - so it really is waterproof. The cover is ventilated through at least two concealed vents under flaps and fabric folds, plus a ground clearance of at least 5 cm.
How to measure your garden sofa
Whether you have a 2 seater or a 3 seater, you will soon notice that the number of seats says little about the size - width and armrests differ from model to model. That is why four measured values count. Measure the sofa the way it will be covered, with the cushions in place if they stay under the cover. If in doubt, we check your measurements together before production.
Width
Measure from outer edge to outer edge across both armrests, at the widest point of the sofa.
Depth
Measure from the front edge of the seat to the back of the backrest, at the deepest point.
Back height
Measure from the ground to the top edge of the backrest - with back cushions in place, to their top edge.
Seat height
Measure from the ground to the top of the seat or seat cushions - this measurement defines the step in the cut.
