Directly from us. You give us the width, depth and height of your chair, plus a sketch or photo for unusual shapes, and we sew the cover as a one-off in Cover-PVC. If you have questions about size or shape, our customer service helps before production.

Measure the width at the widest point across the armrests, the depth from the front edge of the seat to the back of the backrest, and the height from the ground to the highest point of the backrest. Give us the outer measurements. If you are unsure, we check them together with you before production.

A lounge chair is wider, deeper and lower than a garden chair and usually has wide armrests and thick cushions. A garden chair cover is cut too narrow and too tall for it. The garden armchair cover follows this low, wide shape, so no fabric sags into the seat.

What matters is the combination of waterproofing and ventilation. We sew from Cover-PVC, a vapour-tight, PVC-coated polyester fabric with a 4,000 mm water column - it really is waterproof. To stop condensation forming, the ventilation comes from the construction: at least two concealed vents and a ground clearance of at least 5 cm let moisture escape. The fabric is also UV-stabilised, lightfast (grade 7-8), abrasion-resistant (60,000 Martindale cycles) and tested to OEKO-TEX Standard 100.

Rain does not get through, cushions and frame stay dry, and you do not have to bring the cushions in after every shower. Waterproof alone is not enough, though: without ventilation, moisture builds up under a tight cover. That is why we combine the waterproof fabric with vents and ground clearance.

Rain, UV radiation, pollen, leaves and bird droppings wear down cushions, weave and frame. Under a well-fitting cover the chair stays clean and is ready to use as soon as you take the cover off. It is important that the cover is ventilated and does not reach the ground, otherwise moisture collects underneath.

Yes. Measure the chair in the position it will stand in when covered - usually with the backrest upright, because it takes up the least space that way. We sew the cover to those measurements.

It mainly comes down to material, construction and fit. Thin plastic sheeting is cheap but can turn brittle in the sun. A coated fabric with tested values is made for permanent outdoor use. On top of that come vents, tension straps, a drawcord and a cut to your measurements instead of a standard size.

There is no blanket answer, because durability shows in values you can check: water column (ISO 811), Martindale abrasion resistance (ISO 12947), lightfastness (ISO 105-B02) and UV finishing. Fit, ventilation and fastening matter just as much. We state the values of our Cover-PVC openly: 4,000 mm water column, 60,000 cycles, lightfastness grade 7-8, UV-stabilised and tested to OEKO-TEX Standard 100.

Before the chair spends its first long rainy spell or first frost outdoors, so by autumn at the latest. As every cover is sewn individually to your measurements, allow a little lead time. A cover is worthwhile in summer too: it keeps off pollen, leaves and bird droppings.

Remove dirt by hand with lukewarm water, a sponge or a soft brush and a little mild detergent, then rinse with clear water. The cover does not belong in the washing machine or tumble dryer; please do not bleach or iron it. Let it dry in the air before you put it away.
