Important information regarding installation
How to install correctly
- Before installation, ensure that the railing or work surface is securely fastened and that there is no risk of falling during installation.
- Ensure that the balcony railing has no sharp edges or protruding objects to avoid damage to the balcony cover.
Tolerances
Our balcony covers are manufactured with precision. Due to the nature of the material (textile fabric is flexible), slight deviations may occur.
Step 1 - Prepare the railing
Prepare the railing
Remove any objects from the railing that could damage the balcony cover.
Remove any objects from the railing that are not securely fastened or are loose.
Ensure that there is no risk of falling during installation.
Step 2 - Install the balcony cloth
- Position the balcony cloth on the railing in the way you want it to be mounted later.
- First attach it to the top and bottom eyelets and straighten the fabric until it looks good. If the fabric is too long, attach additional eyelets in the middle to achieve even tension.
- Once the balcony fabric is taut and you are happy with the result, secure it permanently by fastening all eyelets securely to the railing using the cable ties or cords provided.

FAQ - Balcony cloth installation
Do I have to drill holes or make any changes to the facade during installation?
No, the balcony cover is attached exclusively to the existing railing—without drilling into the wall or floor.
It is attached directly to the railing using the eyelets with cable ties, cord, or fasteners.
How can I prevent wrinkles when hanging clothes?
Wrinkles are usually caused by insufficient tension or incorrect pulling direction. Tension the fabric evenly at all attachment points and ensure that no areas are looser than others. Begin at one corner and work your way systematically across. The fabric should be taut but not overstretched. A slight offset or readjustment of the pulling direction can work wonders.
How tightly should the balcony cloth be stretched?
The cloth should be tight enough so that it does not flap in the wind, but not so tight that it tears or pulls out the eyelets. Ideally, there should be no visible creases and the tension should be evenly distributed. If the fastening is too loose, the cloth can billow and flap loudly in the wind.
What should I do if my railing has an unusual shape?
For unusual railing constructions (e.g., inwardly offset railings, steel beams), you can attach cross profiles made of aluminum or square tubing to which you can then attach the balcony fabric. Alternatively, you can thread the fabric through the struts if they run horizontally.
Will the balcony cloth withstand wind and storms?
When installed correctly with sufficient fastening points (every 20-30 cm), the fabric can withstand even strong winds. It is important that the fastening is tight so that the fabric does not flap. In very windy locations, you should choose wind-permeable materials and, if necessary, thread the fabric through the struts to reduce the windage area. In extreme weather conditions, temporary removal is recommended.
How much space should there be between the cloth and the balcony floor?
Leave at least 3-5 cm clearance from the ground so that rainwater can drain away easily and the material does not remain damp for long periods. Standing water can lead to rot, mold, and moss growth.
As a tenant, am I allowed to hang a balcony cloth without permission?
Yes, in most cases you are allowed to install a privacy screen that does not protrude beyond the railing, blends in with the color of the facade, and does not require any structural changes (no drilling). A balcony cloth that is attached to the railing with cable ties does not constitute a structural change. However, if you are unsure, you should inform your landlord or ask for permission.
What happens if the landlord prohibits balcony towels?
If the balcony cloth disrupts the visual uniformity of the residential complex, protrudes beyond the railing, or affects neighbors, the landlord may demand its removal. However, they may not remove the privacy screen themselves, but must ask you to do so.
