Quilted Outdoor Cushion Care Guide
Our quilted outdoor cushions are designed for outdoor use and are manufactured to a particularly high standard. To ensure you can enjoy them for a long time, we recommend the following care instructions:
Regular care
- Light soiling can be easily removed with a soft brush or damp cloth. If necessary, clear water or mild soapy water can be used – then wipe with clear water.
- If necessary, use a suitable protective cover to protect your upholstery from dust, moisture, and UV radiation, especially in unstable weather conditions or if the upholstery is not used for a long period of time.
- Dab, don't rub – otherwise pigments may come off or the fabric may become rough.
Additional tips for non-removable covers
-
Treat stains immediately
The fresher a stain is, the easier it is to remove. Always absorb liquids immediately with a clean, absorbent cloth (do not rub, just dab). -
Gentle cleaning with a spray bottle
For stubborn stains, pour a mild soap solution into a spray bottle, spray it onto the stained area, and dab it gently with a microfiber cloth. Then wipe with a little clear water and allow to air dry. -
Brushing instead of rubbing
A soft upholstery brush helps to remove loose dirt (e.g., dust, pollen, animal hair) regularly without damaging the fabric. -
Drying after rain or moisture
Even if the cover cannot be opened, the cushion should be placed upright or at a slight angle after heavy rain so that any residual moisture can drain off more easily. It will dry faster in the sun or wind. -
Use a protective cover
Breathable protective covers are recommended in case of continuous rain, prolonged non-use, or winter storage. This will keep the cushion clean for longer and allow it to dry faster. -
No steam or wet cleaners
Steam, pressure cleaners, or wet vacuum cleaners can soak the filling or damage the quilting seams – only clean selectively and superficially. -
Optional: Odor neutralization
If the upholstery has absorbed odors after prolonged use, sprinkle a thin layer of baking soda over it and vacuum it off after a few hours.
Protection & storage
- Avoid direct prolonged exposure to sunlight to prevent color changes.
- During prolonged periods of bad weather or in winter, store in a dry and well-ventilated place – ideally in a storage box or a breathable cover.
- Be careful with open flames and heat sources.
- Do not use cushions in the immediate vicinity of barbecues, fire pits, or radiant heaters.
- Cigarette embers, flying sparks, or hot ashes can also cause burn marks or holes – please keep a safe distance.
Use by children and pets
- Vacuum animal hair regularly or remove it with a lint roller – this prevents it from becoming embedded in the fabric.
- Make sure your pets' claws are trimmed short to prevent scratches in the fabric or pulled threads.
End of season – storing correctly for winter
- Only store completely dry cushions – residual moisture can lead to mildew stains or odors.
- The storage location should be dry, well-ventilated, and frost-free – e.g., on a shelf or in a storage box with ventilation.
- Do not vacuum pack or press too hard – otherwise the foam may lose its shape.
