Outdoor Cushion Care Guide
Our cushions are designed for outdoor use and are manufactured to a particularly high standard. To ensure you can enjoy them for a long time, we recommend the following care instructions:
Regular care
- Light soiling can be easily removed with a soft brush or a damp cloth. If necessary, clear water or mild soapy water can be used – then wipe with clear water.
- If necessary, use a suitable protective cover to protect your upholstery from dust, moisture, and UV radiation, especially in unstable weather conditions or if the upholstery is not used for a long period of time.
- Dab, don't rub – otherwise pigments may come off or the fabric may become rough.
Removing the cover – how to do it gently
- Open the zipper completely.
- Grasp the foam on both sides with both hands, bend it slightly inward, and carefully pull it evenly out of the cover.
- Avoid pulling jerkily or pulling it out on one side only – this protects the fabric and seams.
- Make sure that the fleece (if present) is firmly attached to the foam so that it does not slip or become damaged when you pull it back in.
Zipper – open or closed during washing?
- Always wash covers with the zipper closed, if technically possible.
- This will keep the shape stable and protect the zipper itself (no snagging or tearing in the machine).
- Make sure that no pillow filling remains in the cover before washing it.
Replacing the cover – easy and wrinkle-free
- Lay the cover flat and open it completely.
- Grasp the foam on the sides and press it upwards towards the center so that it forms an arch shape.
- Then carefully push it into the center of the cover.
- Once it is halfway in, slowly let go – it will expand into the corners by itself.
- Then press down on the sides until the foam is snug and evenly distributed.
- Make sure that the fleece lies between the fabric and the foam without any folds to prevent tension or wrinkling later on.
Protection & storage
- Avoid direct, prolonged exposure to sunlight to prevent color changes.
- During prolonged periods of bad weather or in winter, store in a dry, well-ventilated place – ideally in a storage box or breathable cover.
- After heavy rain or high humidity: open water-repellent covers and briefly remove the filling to speed up drying.
Be careful with open flames and heat sources
- Do not use lounge cushions in the immediate vicinity of barbecues, fire pits, or radiant heaters.
- Cigarette embers, flying sparks, or hot ashes can also cause burn marks or holes – please maintain a safe distance.
Use by children and pets
- Vacuum animal hair regularly or remove it with a lint roller – this prevents it from becoming embedded in the fabric.
- Make sure your pets' claws are trimmed short to prevent scratches in the fabric or pulled threads.
- Upholstery with removable covers is ideal if dirt or animal hair is likely to occur frequently.
End of season – storing correctly for winter
- Only store completely dry upholstery – residual moisture can lead to mildew stains or odors.
- The storage location should be dry, well-ventilated, and frost-free – e.g., on a shelf or in a storage box with ventilation.
- Do not vacuum pack or compress too much – otherwise the foam may lose its shape.
